10. Daniela Silivaș
Retired Romanian artistic gymnast Viorica Daniela Silivaș-Harper was born on May 9, 1972, and earned six individual World Championships titles in her five year tenure as a member of the Romanian senior national team. She also achieved the all-around title at the 1987 European Championships. Daniela won three gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. She is the only gymnast to achieve medal in every single event at the 1988 Summer Olympics and also earned 7 perfect 10 scores. She first achieved the perfect 10 while achieving the World balance beam title at the 1985 World championship at the age of just 13. Most of the skills that he executed in the 1988 Olympics still carries a high difficulty ratings in the “2007 Code of Points”. Daniela was inducted in the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2002.
9. Maria Gorokhovskaya
Former Russian-born Soviet artistic gymnast of Jewish descent Maria Kondratyevna Gorokhovska was there with us from his birth on October 17, 1921, till she died at the age of 79 on July 22, 2001. She achieved seven medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics which is the most medals achievement by any female athlete in a single Olympics Games. Gorokhovskaya won her first USSR title in 1948 on the balance beam event. She was a pioneer member of the dominating Soviet gymnastic team and won the gold medal in the all-around competition at the Helsinki Olympic Games. Gorokhovskaya internationally appeared for the last time at the 1954 World Championships and achieved the title. She, after her retirement from professional gymnastic, worked as an international judge since 1964 and also as a lecturer.

8. Lavinia Miloșovici
Retired Romanian artistic gymnast Lavinia Corina Miloșovici was born on October 21, 1976, and is widely regarded as one of the most prolific female all-around gymnasts of 1990s. She is known as “Milo” in the gymnastics community, and is one of the Romania’s top gymnasts of the decade. Miloșovici earned a total 19 World Championships and Olympic medals in her six years career. She achieved medals in every single World Championships Olympic Games and European Championships between 1991 and 1996. She is also one of the only three women to achieve at least one World Championships or Olympic medal on all four events. Miloșovici achieved her first individual World Championships title in 1991 and won the second individual world title at the 1992 World Championships. She was inducted in the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2011.
7. Ludmilla Tourischeva
Former Romanian artistic gymnast Ludmilla Ivanovna Tourischeva was born on October 7, 1952, and is one of the only two women to win the grand slam of all-around titles in Olympics, World Championships, World Cup and European Championships. She achieved nine Olympic medals for the Soviet Union. Tourischeva won the all-around gold medal in the World Championships in 1970 and 1974, the world cup in 1975 and the European Championships twice in 1971 and 1973. She was elected in the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation in 1981. For her contribution to the women’s gymnastics, she received the “Women in Sport trophy” by the International Olympic Committee. Tourischeva was inducted in the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1998.
6. Polina Astakhova
Former Soviet-Ukrainian artistic gymnast Polina Astakhova was there with us from his birth on October 30, 1936, till she died at the age of 68 from pneumonia on August 5, 2005. She achieved five gold medals, two silver medals and three bronze medals as a pioneer member of the USSR team in 1956, 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics. Astakhova for her exceptional grace was nickname “The Russian Birch” in Western countries and was also called “Madonna” by the Italian journalists at the 1960 Olympics. She led her team to win the gold medal on team event at the 1964 Summer Olympics and also achieved the third place in the all-around. Astakhova, after her retirement, worked as the USSR State Trainer for Ukrainian SSR since 1972 for a brief period. She was inducted in the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2002.

5. Ágnes Keleti
Retired Hungarian-born Israeli artistic gymnast Ágnes Keleti was born on 9 January 1921, and is widely considered by many as one of the most successful Jewish Olympians of all time. She achieved 10 Olympic medals which includes five gold medals in the Summer Olympics. Keleti was also the most successful athlete at the 1956 Summer Olympic Games. She started her gymnastic training at the age of just 4 and became the Hungarian National Champion by the age of 16. She won the Championships title ten times between 1937 and 1956. Keleti participated at the Olympics for the first time in 1952 and achieved four medals at the age of 31. She achieved gold medals in three of the four individual events at the 1956 Melbourne Summer Olympics. Keleti was inducted in the Hungarian Sports Hall of Fame in 1991 and in International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2002.
4. Věra Čáslavská
Former Czechoslovakian artistic gymnast Věra Čáslavská was born on 3 May 1942, and is widely regarded as one the best due to his cheerful and impressive stage presence. She achieved a total of 22 international titles which includes seven Olympic gold medals in individual events which again is an all-time record among female gymnasts. Čáslavská at the 1967 European Championships event finals achieved two perfect scores of 10. She is one of the only two female gymnasts to win the all-around gold medal twice consecutively in Olympic Games. She is also the 1966 all-around World Champion and became the all-around European Champion twice in 1965 and 1967. Čáslavská received the “Pierre de Coubertin International Fair Play Trophy” from UNESCO for her “exemplary dignity” in 1989. She was inducted in the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.

3. Nadia Comăneci
Former Romanian artistic gymnast Nadia Elena Comăneci was born on November 12, 1961, and is the first female gymnast to achieve a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastics event. She won three Olympic gold medals at the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics. Comăneci also won two gold medals at the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics. She was named “Female Athlete of the Year” by the United Press International in 1975 and also became BBC’s “Overseas Sports Personality of the Year” in 1976. Comăneci was also named “Female Athlete of the Year” by the Associated Press in 1976. She was named the “Hero of Socialist Labor” and was also honored with the “Sickle and Hammer Gold Medal”. This legendary female gymnast was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1993.

2. Svetlana Khorkina
Former Russian artistic gymnast Svetlana Vasilyevna Khorkina was born on 19 January 1979, and has achieved a total of seven Olympic medals in 1996 Summer Olympics, the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2004 Summer Olympics. She also won twenty World Championship medals besides her Olympic appearances. She was the first gymnast and is still the only female gymnast to win three all-around titles at the World Championships. Khorkina was named vice-president of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation in December 2005, after her retirement from professional gymnastic. She became the ambassador for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games and is a member of the political party of United Russia since 2003. Khorkina served her duty as a deputy for the Russian State Duma from 2007 to 2011.

Former Soviet artistic gymnast Larisa Semyonovna Latynina was born on 27 December 1934, and has won 14 Olympic medals in individual events and four medals in team events between 1956 and 1964. Her amazing achievement of 18 Olympic medals stood unbeaten for 48 years until for 48 years until surpassed that glory on 31 July 2012. Latynina still holds the record for most medals in individual event. She won five out of six titles in World Championships in 1958 despite being four months pregnant that time. Latynina is the only woman to win an all-around medal in more than two Olympic Games and also the only female athlete to win an individual event in more than two Olympic Games. This legendary female gymnast was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1998.
